"Fear the Walking Dead" season 1 ended with Travis (Cliff Curtis) leading his family out of the Los Angeles area, hoping to find safety in Strand's (Colman Domingo) boat. According to a report from IGN, comic book creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman revealed that this option won't be as safe as the characters had hoped for.
"There's definitely some zombie water action coming up," Kirkman explained. "Just because it takes place on the boat doesn't mean they'll be on the boat all the time. It will be a seafaring adventure."
Kirkman continued to explain that the characters will be visiting different locales and may even come across other boats out on the open water.
After all, Travis's group won't be the only ones hoping to find some salvation on the seas. He also stated that while the setting is different from the flagship series, "The Walking Dead," the two will still be similar in the sense that even the open waters aren't a safe haven from zombies and violent people.
Kirkman also explained that the concept for "Fear" came from the fact that he wanted to explain how a character like Glenn (Steven Yeun), who was a pizza delivery boy before the zombie apocalypse, had transformed into a shotgun-wielding tough-guy by the time Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) woke from his coma in season 1.
"How did we get to the point where this pizza boy could do that?" Kirkman stated. "So on 'Fear,' we get to see how a regular person like Travis would react to these situations."
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 will have 15 episodes, reports Coming Soon, more than twice the number of episodes season 1 featured. This is similar to the flagship series, which started with six episodes in its first season and later grew to 16 episodes per season.
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 will premiere in 2016.
