Ever since Bethesda Softworks released "Fallout 4" last year, fans have been eagerly waiting for the game's first set of DLC. Finally breaking the silence, Bethesda announced via Twitter that news of their DLC plans will be coming very soon.
"We know you're ready to learn what's coming for Fallout 4 DLC. We're not far off, and we think you'll be excited," reads the official post, indicating that an announcement will be made in the very near future. This has gotten fans speculating that news may be announced even before this year's E3 event.
According to a report from Games Radar this may indicate that Bethesda Softworks may make a short announcement reveiling their new DLC or that the developers are just in the latter stages of finishing the content and that an actual release window is still in discussion.
The latter half of their Twitter announcement confirmed that there will be changes coming to the game's Survival Mode. The announcement stated that a complete overhaul is being done and that this will include changes to food, sleep, danger and most notably diseases.
According to Geek, diseases have been used sparingly in "Fallout 4," although the developers have implemented this mechanic thoroughly in their "Elder Scrolls" games. The need to eat, sleep and drink were also notable elements in the Hardcore Mode of "Fallout: New Vegas."
In the aforementioned "New Vegas" title, players were forced to pace their adventures by eating and resting, otherwise, their stats and health would diminish, eventually leading to stat changes that could degrade their ability to defend themselves against the Wasteland's numerous dangers. It is speculated that this may be the bases for the new game's overhauled Survival Mode.
Unfortunately, the Survival Mode overhaul has no official release date either. Fans speculate this may be released alongside the announcement for the DLC or that the overhaul may be a part of the upcoming DLC, but nothing is confirmed until Bethesda Softworks releases their statement.
