Elizabeth Banks wants Kristen Stewart in 'Charlie's Angels' reboot

"Charlie's Angels" is getting a 2019 movie reboot by Sony, and director Elizabeth Banks is eyeing Kristen Stewart for one of the lead roles.

Stewart would be a good fit as one of the members of the all-female detective trio. The "Twilight" superstar's last big-budget Hollywood project was "Snow White and the Huntsman" back in 2010. Working under the radar, she became the first American actress to win a Cesar Award for her performance in "The Clouds of Sils Maria." According to Variety, Stewart will be appearing in Fox's "Underwater."

Critics said that if Stewart signs for a lead role, the film reboot could give her the same effect when Johnny Depp became Captain Jack Sparrow. A project this big will bring the young indie actress back into the mainstream limelight.

The film reboot casting team has their sights locked on to Lupita Nyong'o ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens"). She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the historical drama "12 Years a Slave" back in 2013. The 34-year-old actress is also an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as she will be playing the role of Nakia in the upcoming 2018 movie, "Black Panther."

To complete the trio, Sony wants Janelle Monae to play as one of the detectives. Monae portrayed the role of Mary Jackson in "Hidden Figures" back in 2016. The project earned her the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast in a Motion Picture.

Sony has also enlisted the talents of "Narcos" writing duo Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard. Aside from directing the movie, Bank will be teaming up with fellow producers Elizabeth Cantillon and Max Handelman for the summer 2019 reboot of the '70's classic TV show.

Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith were the first three to bring detectives to life. Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu brought the popular TV show to the big screen back in 2000 that grossed $264 million worldwide.
