'Doctor Strange' movie news: two villains; visuals will be comparable to 'Inception'

Doctor Strange Marvel Comics

Marvel's "Doctor Strange" is only a year away but very few details about the project are officially confirmed, except for the fact that actor Benedict Cumberbatch will play the titular role. A new report from JoBlo.com sheds some light on what fans can expect from the film, including what the doctor's costume would look like and the villains he will have to face.

According to the report, Doctor Strange's looks will be pulled directly from the comic books. The character has gone through several design changes over the years but the basic look remains relatively the same: the character has a trimmed beard and mustache, a long overcoat, red cape, blue vest, and long collars.

The report continues to explain that the design will only be slightly modified to fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the tone that the previous films have established. This means the character will sport his iconic red cape but will now don a modern vest and a shorter collar.

Both Dormammu and Baron Mordo will be the villains in the film. Dormammu is described as an ancient mystical being and is the ruler of the Mindless Ones in an alternate dimension. Baron Mordo is also a student of the Ancient One, as is Doctor Strange, but uses his prowess over the mystical arts for evil and selfish desires.

According to the report, Dormammu's Mindless Ones will also be featured in the film. They may serve as cannon fodder for Doctor Strange to defeat or may pose as a serious threat to the universe the same way the Chitauri were in the first "Avengers" film.

The report explains that the action sequences in the film will take place across different dimensions and also in the Astral Plane. The visuals are then compared to those seen in Christopher Nolan's 2010 film "Inception."

"Doctor Strange" is scheduled to release on Nov. 4, 2016.
