Since Year Two and a third expansion rolled out, developer Bungie has been constantly updating its hugely popular sci-fi shooter "Destiny." Before the year ends, the developer promised a major update coming out. The latest news from the developer says the major update will come out as early as next week.
According to the latest Weekly Update on Bungie's official site, while no specific dates were given, the update will likely roll out next week. However, community manager David Dague mentioned that the release date is still up to the development team itself and may still change. Dague wrote, "The thing about plans is that they can change, so the exact day is up to the smart people who get to push the big red button. Stay tuned for more specific dates and times."
Meanwhile, although the patch notes and changelog for the upcoming update will also come out together with the patch itself, GameSpot predicted that since this will be a major update, big changes will come to "Destiny" players. The patch, dubbed as Update 2.1.0, has already been hinted to bring at least 13 new Exotics back from Year One and introduce changes to the microtransaction inventory. In addition, it was previously reported that the newest update will also offer rebalancing and weapons tuning.
In the case of rebalancing, Forbes surmised that Bungie will most likely tone down and also rebalance the Titan subclasses for "Destiny." Introduced as additional character types for the third expansion, The Taken King, the Titan subclasses Defender, Striker, and Sunbreaker have been getting a substantial amount of recognition as some of the best builds in the title, particularly the last subclass. Briefly mentioned in the weekly update, the report said that based on the hints by Bungie, the Sunbreaker subclass would most like receive toned-down stats and skills rebalance when the new patch rolls out.
