'Constantine' season 2: Constantine not appearing again on 'Arrow'

Last year, fans of "Constantine" were thrilled when Matt Ryan reprised his role as the demon-fighting hero in a November episode of "Arrow." The character's appearance on the CW show prompted rumors that the character might be joining "Legends of Tomorrow," and there was also speculation that the show might be renewed for a second season by the network.

However, it was previously reported that the show, which aired for 13 episodes on NBC, won't be getting another season. Despite the clamor of loyal viewers, it appears that the series has truly reached the end of its run. Moreover, no updates about a second season has been posted on the show's official social media pages, and executive producer Daniel Cerone is now working on NBC's "The Blacklist."

As for future appearances on other DC shows such as "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow" and "The Flash," it looks like John Constantine's visit to Star City last year was the last time that fans would see the character on television.

"Arrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Comic Book Resources that the character's guest appearance on the CW series was planned even before NBC cancelled "Constantine" and that it was a one-off deal.

"Back when 'Constantine' was on, we were talking about a crossover. Then 'Constantine' wasn't on, so we stopped talking about a crossover," Guggenheim said. The producer revealed that it took "a while" before the crossover happened and that it was something that Ryan and Stephen Amell had started talking about.

"When we were given the character, we were given the character with the understanding and the agreement that this is a one-off," Guggenheim explained.

It was previously reported that the crossover was well-received by fans and critics alike, as "Arrow" saw an 11 percent jump in the core demographic when the episode aired on Nov. 4, 2015.
