The family grows bigger in the upcoming episode of ABC's "Black-ish" season 3.
Titled "Sister, Sister," the show's next episode will finally introduce Bow's (Tracee Ellis Ross) sister. According to the official synopsis, Bow's sister Santamonica (guest star Rashida Jones) comes to town after filming her part in a reality series. As the days go by, everyone in the house begin to notice their complicated relationship. Now that Zoey (Yara Shahidi) is leaving for college soon, she convinces Dre (Anthony Anderson) to spend more time with Junior (Marcus Scribner). Jack (Miles Brown) and Diane (Marsai Martin), on the other hand, keep busy by rebranding themselves.
Since Dre's sister Rhonda (Raven-Symone) has already been introduced this season, Santamonica's appearance will offer an interesting twist to the story. Bow and her sister do not have a lot in common, which means fans can expect some conflicts to arise between the two characters.
In other related news, the proposed "Black-ish" spin-off just got a bit closer to being a real contender for the upcoming season. Deadline reports that "Saturday Night Live" vet Chris Parnell and "Veep" actor Matt Walsh have both agreed to join the offshoot should ABC officially pick it up for a pilot season.
The spin-off will follow Zoey, the eldest among the Johnson kids, as she heads off to college. The duo will play college administrators in Zoey's university. Young actor Trevor Jackson has also been tapped to join the show as a freshman at the college Zoey will be in. All three actors will appear in the planted spin-off pilot episode, which will air on "Black-ish." It was filmed earlier this year and is scheduled to air this spring. Jackson and Parnell have the option to become series regulars, while Walsh plays a guest starring role, which could be a recurring character as well.
The project is helmed by "Black-ish" executive producers Kenya Barris and Larry Wilmore.
The third season of "Black-ish" returns on Wednesday, April 26, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
