'Batman: Arkham Knight': 'Batgirl: A Matter of Family' DLC add-on gets a release date

 WB Games

Season pass holders can play as Batgirl in "Batman: Arkham Knight" soon. Warner Bros has announced that "Batgirl: A Matter of Family," the first story add-on for the game, will be available on July 14. Gamers without the season pass will have to wait until July 21 for the DLC's arrival.

"Batgirl: A Matter of Family" gives players the much-awaited chance to hunt down bad guys as the Dark Knight's trusty sidekick for the first time in the franchise's history. It is set before the events in "Arkham Asylum."

As a nod to Batgirl aka Barbara Gordon's tech knowhow, this new "Batman: Arkham Knight" story pack, which is priced £5.79 ($6.99), also brings along an all new hacking system that requires the superheroine to solve puzzles and brain-teasers to advance levels and progress in the game.

The add-on also introduces a new and unique Dual-Play mechanic system wherein players can team up with Robin in taking down some bad guys. All this takes place in a new location where players can do multiple missions, side quests and uncover Gotham's biggest, most well-kept mysteries.

At the moment, "Batgirl: A Matter of Family" is only available for the PS4 and the Xbox One. With the PC version of "Batman: Arkham Knight" still saddled up with major technical issues, it remains unclear when PC players will be able to take on Gotham's most terrible villains as Batgirl.

To note, this story pack was developed by Warner Bros Montreal, but the rest of the additional expansion packs in the $40 season pass are being developed by "Batman: Arkham Knight" developer itself, Rocksteady Studios. Most of these add-ons boast a unique gameplay feature. They are story-based like "Gotham City Stories," which features Batman's friends, and "The Season of Infamy," which pits Batman against a new pack of nasty rogues.
