The rumor about the new iPhone coming in two sizes has now been proven to be true. Apple just introduced its newest models, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, at the company's media event in Cupertino.

The iPhone 6 has a screen size of 4.7 inches and is 6.9 millimeters thin; while its sibling, the iPhone 6 Plus, measures 5.5 inches diagonally and is 7.1 inches thin. The newest iPhones sport a new generation Retina screen with ion-strengthened glass.

The new devices are equipped with a 64-bit chip that has two billion transistors, so its CPU is 25 percent faster, while its GPU is 50 percent faster. It has an M8 motion chip and built-in barometer for use with the Health app. The 8MP iSight camera boasts a "focus pixels" feature which works like an SLR camera, in that a user would know whether or not the picture is in focus.

Pre-orders for the new iPhones will start on Sept. 12, and Apple will start shipping in the US a week later, on Sept. 19. The iPhone 6 has a suggested retail price of $199, and iPhone 6 Plus will have a price tag of $299. IOS 8 will launch on Sept. 17.

The company also introduced the long-rumored iWatch – officially called Apple Watch – which works seamlessly with the iPhone. It is accurate up to +/- 50 milliseconds, and has features for health and fitness. It has a dial on the side, called Digital Crown, for scrolling and zooming – pressing it would take the user back to the home screen. It can take dictation, and can be used for sharing images.  The device also has a touchscreen, it can send a voice message, or it can convert a dictated message to text.

As Apple says in its website, "Apple Watch is as much about self-expression as its utility."
