'Agent Carter' season 2 premiere date soon; to take place in Los Angeles

Agent Carter Season 2 ABC/Marvel

For some time, fans of "Agent Carter" feared that the show wasn't going to get another run but ABC recently announced on their official page that it is indeed getting renewed for season 2. It has also been confirmed via the official season 2 synopsis posted on Spoilers Guide that the show would move the titular character from New York to Los Angeles as she embarks on her "most dangerous assignment yet."

The synopsis reads:

Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she's about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect."

Cinema Blend points out that none of the supporting cast from season 1 are mentioned. Because of the plot's shift in location, it is possible that Lyndsy Fonseca's Angie Martinelli and James D'Arcy's Jarvis won't be billed as regulars. However, they might still appear as guest stars the same way Howard Stark appeared in season 1.

It is also important to note that the exact time period of season 2 isn't specified. The synopsis only states that it takes place post-World War II which means it could take place mere months or even years after season 1 ended. It should close the gap between WWII-era events of the first "Captain America" film and the modern setting of the MCU films.

According to the report from Cinema Blend, "Agent Carter" will remain as a midseason series that will fill in the gap while "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is not on air. The former will use the timeslot of the latter until Coulson's team returns with its third season in fall.

"Agent Carter" season 2 has no official release date as of the time of writing but fans expect it to air very soon now that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." just aired its season 2 finale.
