Aug. 13 will be a big day for Xiaomi. This will be the day it will lift the veil off the MIUI 7, which is the newest version of its own Android-based operating system and according to reports, it will also release the all new Redmi Note 2.

There is also another product Xiaomi might launch during the same event. A device called Redmi 2 Prime popped up on Amazon India recently, prompting media outlets to speculate that the Chinese company will bring out another smartphone in the country.

The listing on the retailer revealed the specs of the handset, which seems to be a padded out version of the Xiaomi Redmi 2. Notably, the same handset was released in China early this year but with a different name – the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition.

The said variant came with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space. The Redmi 2 Prime is said to house the same components. Other specs include a 4.7-inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel shooter on the back with LED flash and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. It is also expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and a 2,200 mAh battery. The device seems to have Android 4.4.4 KitKat running but with MIUI 6 juxtaposed in it.

Unfortunately, there's no word on the pricing of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime. It is, however, expected to be pricier than the original Redmi 2 that was sold in India. The upcoming smartphone is expected to make it to the region on Aug. 13 along with the Redmi Note 2.

The phablet is rumored to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and 2 GB of RAM. Previous reports say the device will be launched on Aug. 16 but Phone Arena says this might be the date it goes on sale.
