With its updates and new features being unlocked for players, it seems Xbox One is slowly gaining ground in the home console battle. Meanwhile, it seems that console owner Microsoft still has a lot in store for its Xbox fans as reports of another console have surfaced online.
In an interview with The Verge, head of Xbox Phil Spencer was certain that another Xbox is on the way. Spencer was quoted as saying, "I fully expect that you'll see another console from us [...] Our best customers are Xbox console customers, and I want to keep those people engaged both on the Xbox One and anything we might do in the future. I'm 100 percent committed to that."
The response stemmed from an observation that leaps in technology have offered an all-in-one gaming experience from TV, smartphones, tablets, and computers. Spencer, however, believes that there is still a huge demand for console gaming and plans to continue with the Xbox brand. He added, "I don't want to dilute what the Xbox console customer feels. I want to expand what we're able to do for more customers."
The console wars are indeed heating up, with some console companies planning their own offensive in the coming years. It has already been confirmed that Nintendo is currently developing a sequel to the Wii U, and reports about the Nintendo NX say it is a console and handheld hybrid system. Sony, on the other hand, has been rumored to further solidify its stake on the console gaming market by teasing about a possible PlayStation 5.
The PlayStation system is the biggest competitor of the Xbox. However, Sony might be maintaining the lead, as TechRadar observed. The industry follower even guessed that Microsoft stopped reporting its sales of Xbox One to the public since the numbers would glaringly point to their console losing ground against the PS4.
