For the first anniversary of the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program, which now has 280 Xbox 360 titles from the initial 100, Microsoft adds "Skate 3" as the latest game on the list.

"Skate 3" is the third installment in the series released in 2010 for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. It takes players in the city of Port Carverton and promises "a unique co-op skateboarding experience."

In this Xbox One Backward Compatibility addition, players can build their own skate team and "change the face of the city." In addition, they can take on rival skate crews online and "shred the streets of an all-new skaters' paradise."

To make the anniversary celebration sweeter, Microsoft Xbox teamed up with Electronic Arts, who published "Skate 3," to make available the San Van Party Pack expansion free of charge up to Sunday, Nov. 20. After that, the base game will only be the one downloadable for free.

"Skate 3" marks the first year of the program and succeeds other big Xbox One Backward Compatibility additions such as "Mass Effect 2" and "Mass Effect 3" brought in last week.

"We launched with over 100 titles and have added over 170 more in the last year. Today, you can play more than 280 Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, including my personal favorites, Blue Dragon and Red Dead Redemption – and the library continues to grow," Xbox's head of platform engineering, Mike Ybarra, wrote on Major Nelson's website.

"We're thrilled with the response and engagement we've seen from the community with more than 210 million hours of gameplay logged," he went on to say.

Meanwhile, Director of Programming for the Microsoft gaming network Xbox Live, Larry Hyrb, better known as Major Nelson, also tweeted that the adventure-platformer video game "Scary Girl" will also be made available as an Xbox One Backward Compatible title along with "Skate 3."
