'X-Men: Apocalypse' spoilers - the Blob confirmed to be in film

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is already set to feature several mutants, so much so that the number of mutants may rival that as seen in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "X-Men: The Last Stand." Director Bryan Singer has now added one more mutant to the roster, revealing that the Blob will indeed be in the film.

The director shared the photo via his Instagram account and it showcases the Blob lying on the floor defeated by Angel (Ben Hardy). As pointed out in a report from Screen Rant this may indicate that the Blob will only be making a cameo appearance in the film, to establish Angel's introduction, but it is a good little nod to the fans of the comic books.

A report from IGN also notes that this is not the first time that the Blob has appeared in the "X-Men" cinematic universe. The character did appear back in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and was then played by Kevin Durand. However, the events of that film was erased in "Days of Future Past" and it is likely that this will be a new interpretation of the character.

In the original "X-Men" comic books, the Blob has thick skin that makes him almost impervious to all kinds of physical damage while also allowing him to deal super-strength blows against his foes. Despite his strength, the character does look defeated in the teaser image, showcasing the true power that Angel has.

Angel will be one of the "Four Horsemen" that the main villain, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) will call his side and this image reveals a good glimpse that Apocalypse is choosing Angel not only for his ability to fly. Angel will later be altered and further mutated into a metallic being known as Archangel and will presumably later join the X-Men team.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" releases in theaters this May 27.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
