'X-Men Apocalypse' movie news, cast update: Ben Hardy added to cast of next X-Men film

"X-Men Apocalypse" is set to be shown on May 27, 2016 and the latest person to be added to the cast is Ben Hardy.

Hardy, best known from EastEnders, will be joining James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender as well as a new group of members who will take on various Marvel comicbook roles.

While it has yet to be revealed who Hardy will portray, others who have been named already with their roles include Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops) and Kodi Smith-McPhee (Nightcrawler).

The next installment will apparently focus on Apocalypse who is an immortal Egyptian that mutated while onboard an alien spaceship. The movie will most likely backtrack and tell the tale of Apocalypse, a mutant who is similarly unwanted and rejected by society.

It remains to be seen if Hardy would play the role of Apocalypse, or perhaps a younger version of the Egyption god-mutant. Then again, he could take on the role as he is since being a mutant could probably include that of defying age.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is the concluding story of the trilogy which dates back to "X-Men: First Class."

Bryan Singer shared through Instagram that the first full production meeting had taken place last March 4 in Montreal. Filming is set to star this April as the movie shifts up a notch en route to the May 27, 2016 target film debut.
