X-Men: Apocalypse cast news update: Jennifer Lawrence not ruling out Mystique return

Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique 20th Century Fox

Will "X-Men: Apocalypse" indeed be the last hurrah for Jennifer Lawrence as that shape-shifting Mystique? At least that seemed to be the case earlier on before Comic-Con came around. And now it seems that Lawrence is singing a different tune.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is said to be the final chapter of the X-Men trilogy which started with "X-Men: First Class." Although more X-Men movies are expected in the future, one cannot simply think of how the movie franchise could exist without Mystique or Jennifer Lawrence.

But that initial claim of "X-Men: Apocalypse" being the last seems to have softened a bit with Lawrence now saying that she and her character could possibly make future appearances for planned X-Men (or even Marvel?) films.

When asked about it, Lawrence seems to be leaving some hope that she will return (if needed).

Lawrence is the second cast member to sound off that she could be leaving the X-Men franchise, the other one being Hugh Jackman who claims that the next Wolverine movie will most likely be his last. Like the case of Lawrence, this remains to be seen.

But what if Mystique would be given a spin-off of her own? Could this sway (or be the reason) why Lawrence has gone back on her word?

With a lot of the mutant heroes being mentioned as getting spin-offs, producer Lauren Shuler Donner mentioned Lawrence's character Mystique as someone who could possibly be getting a spin-off.

So what else is there to know about the blue-colored shape-shifter?

Well all that remains in the air and we can most probably start the speculations once a spin-off is actually made official and in the works.

For now it would be best to see what "X-Men Apocalypse" will have to offer when it hits theatres in May 2016.
