Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was present at their home dugout Friday after sustaining in what the team concluded a left hamstring strain in a 5-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday.
Harper left the game against Tampa Bay after getting hurt trying to throw home from right field in the sixth inning as he slipped because of the wet grass and went down holding on to his left leg.
"I've had problems with my left knee before -- I've had surgery on it. So you know, it was definitely really scary," Harper said following the incident according to ESPN.
The two-time All-Star stayed down for a moment but was able to stand and walk by himself although he was helped by the Nationals training staff as he exited the game.
But a day after getting hurt, Harper was present at the club's home dugout during the Nats' batting practice, The Washington Post reported.
According to the report, Nationals manager Matt Williams said the 22-year-old already went through treatment and was doing light catches and leg weight lifting exercises Friday.
Washington took on the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday but Harper did not play in the 4-1 win.
"He got through it fine. That's an important step for him. We'll see where he is tomorrow," Williams said about Harper's activities after their win over Pittsburgh.
"He did some leg work. Got some blood flow in there. [The doctor] looked at him. Poked around and we'll see how he is tomorrow. A good work day for him today and he was able to do some things," Williams added according to The Washington Post.
The Washington Post also reported that Harper is yet to go through an MRI since they are waiting on his body's response to all the light activities he did including treatment.
Williams already said Harper will likely not be on the disabled list although there is a possibility that he will be on it if there would be no progress regarding his injury.
