'Vanquish' release date news: Game is set for May 2017 release

Recently, Sega released a new teaser regarding their upcoming game "Vanquish." Many who had seen the hint online said that the game just might come out this year. Surprisingly, as if to answer these speculations, a confirmation report has arrived.

"Vanquish" is Sega and PlatinumGames' latest game. The high-speed, third-person shooter game was originally released on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 back in 2010. In the game, the players take the role of Sam Gideon, a DARPA operative assigned to defeat future-tech enemies using a number of weapons.

Since its first release, the game has been a hit and many are expecting that the game would also be published on PCs. Many fans of the game anticipated it then; however, the news never came, not until this year, when "Vanguish" has finally been confirmed to arrive to PCs.

"Vanquish" will be released via Steam and will support Steam's cloud achievements, trading cards, leader boards, achievements, and Big Picture Mode.

The game is said to feature 4k resolution and will have an unlocked framerate. It will also support mouse and keyboard for game control. Sega promised that the PC release will support computer-specific features such as shadow quality, SSAO lighting, anisotropic filtering, and scalable texture.

John Clark, senior vice president of commercial publishing for Sega Europe, recently shared that they are happy to finally bring "Vanquish" PCs. "It was great to see the positive response from our community to the "Bayonetta" PC launch last month, and we are pleased that we are in a position to be able to announce Vanquish, another of our highly requested back catalogue titles," Clarke said in the press release, adding, "There's more to come from Sega in this space, so stay tuned for further announcements."

The PC version of "Vanquish" will come right after PlatinumGames' smash hit "Bayonetta" via Steam. The game is set to come out to PCs on May 25.
