UEFA Champions League news: Wolfsburg set to 'annoy' Real Madrid

The UEFA Champions League is already a few weeks in and the next upcoming match will see the Vfl Wolfsburg go up against one of the all-time favorites, Real Madrid. In an interview with the UEFA, Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking stated that while they are the underdog, they will do their best to "annoy" Real Madrid.

"Real Madrid have a great squad with top-class players," Hecking explained in the interview. "They are one of the favourites for the title and one of the top clubs in Europe. But we will try to annoy them and I think my team can do that. It won't be enough to just stop Ronaldo."

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the primary forwards for the team and in Portugal plays as the team captain, making him a formidable obstacle standing in Wolfsburg's way if the team wants to surpass Real Madrid to take the crown. However, Hecking has pointed out that the team's efforts will be against the whole Real Madrid and not just focused on Ronaldo.

The coach continued to state that reaching the UEFA Champions and getting this far has already beaten most people's expectations but confirmed that the team will do everything possible to ensure that their journey does not end here.

Hecking explained that while Real Madrid is not exactly the biggest opponent they've faced in their career, this is definitely the match that is garnering the most attention given how popular and highly rated Real Madrid is.

In regards to Ronaldo Rodrigues, Wolfsburg's star player, the coach confirmed that they are looking to get Naldo back on the field but Hecking still needs to discuss the matter with Naldo's doctor and with Naldo himself. However, the final decision still falls under Hecking's rule and at this point the coach explained he cannot properly determine if Naldo will be playing in the match against Real Madrid.
