'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege' open beta relaunched by Ubisoft

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege delayed to December Ubisoft

Following an unexpected delay in its scheduled launch last Nov. 25, developer and publisher Ubisoft has announced that the open beta for the newest installment in the "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six" franchise is now live.

In a post on its official forum, Ubisoft announced that the open beta for "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege" has gone live. The publisher then thanked fans and hardcore players for their patience and feedback in dealing with the earlier bungled launch schedule.

Originally scheduled last Nov. 25, Ubisoft decided to grind to a halt the imminent launch of the open beta. According to an earlier post, the developer experienced issues in the matchmaking and network when the open beta was nearing its release. Ubisoft mentioned that network problems included intermittent disconnections, and in other cases, server issues also caused failed game connections. In addition, some games also failed to start properly, leading players to an almost frozen loading screen right after matchmaking was finished.

The server problems were only for the open beta version. Meanwhile, the closed beta for "Rainbow Six: Siege" continues. Similarly though, the closed beta was also delayed when it launched last September because issues were also found prior to it going live.

Although the developer said that fixes have been made and servers are now up and running, Ubisoft has not revealed any clear details on whether it will extend the open beta version because of the delayed launch. The open beta for "Rainbow Six: Siege" was originally scheduled to run from Nov. 25 and was supposed to end on Sunday, Nov. 29.

However, Ubisoft assured fans that since fixes have been made immediately, the open beta delay will not derail the official release date for the full version of the title. The full version of "Rainbow Six: Siege" is scheduled to roll out next week, Dec. 1, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
