Just days after his arrival in Washington on Wednesday, evangelist Luis Palau spoke the message of the gospel in Spanish to the Latino community during an evening rally that also featured special musical guests.

"The locals wanted it," said Andrew Palau, DC Festival director.

Among the thousands that flocked to the kick-off event, over 100 made decisions for Christ that night.

The Latino Rally is the first of several smaller outreach events leading up to the much anticipated DC Festival, scheduled for Oct. 8-9.

Upcoming affinity group-based outreach opportunities include luncheons for ladies, as well as those for business, government and civic communities. These events are slated for the first week of October and will feature Luis Palau.

In addition to these specific pre-festival events, the DC Festival staff will be holding its final sessions of counsellor training to gear up for the main open area event.
