'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: Negan's life before the apocalypse revealed

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan AMC

"The Walking Dead" season 6 gave fans their first look at Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the villain Negan. Very little is known about the character, but as stated in a report from Comic Book, that has all changed now that series creator Robert Kirkman has released a new comic book mini-series revealing the villain's origins.

The story is told in "Here's Negan," a 48-page comic book that will slowly unfold with each monthly release of Image Plus Magazine. Each issue will contain four pages, ensuring that all 48 pages will be released within a year's time. As it turns out, the first four pages reveal that Negan was once a school teacher and ping pong coach.

Just as he is in the main series, even back before the apocalypse began he already had a dominating, sarcastic and yet oddly charming personality that drew people close to him. The first four pages showcase him trying to be the coolest teacher in school while using his colorful foul language to humiliate a student.

The story so far ends with Negan meeting up with his wife or girlfriend but she passes out and has a seizure right as she is about to walk toward and greet him. It is undetermined at this point if she is simply suffering from a disease or another condition such as cancer or if she is one of the earliest victims of the zombie apocalypse.

While the comic books are notably different from the AMC television series, it is noted that the series is beginning to draw more inspiration from the comics than before and it is possible that Negan's history will be revealed in snippets in "The Walking Dead" season 7.

It was previously reported that Negan's backstory may be touched upon and now fans will have a good expectation of what the television version should focus on.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will air this October.
