'Vampire Diaries' season 7 spoilers: Damon changes plans in fight against the Heretics in episode 4

 CW

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 4 will continue Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) fight against Lily (Annie Wersching) and her band of Heretics but this time he will fumble right when things seem to be going the right way, forcing him and the crew to scramble for a last-minute alternative.

As shown in the promo trailer for the episode, titled "I Carry Your Heart with Me," Damon will open a casket only to find Oscar (Tim Kang) already dead. This immediately ruins his plans and calls the unwanted attention of Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) and Nora (Scarlett Byrne).

In order to keep the two girls distracted Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King) will keep them occupied with the Heaven and Hell ball held at Whitmore College. There is a scene in the trailer where the girls ask Damon where Oscar is and he lies, telling them that they just missed him.

Before they can find out what really happened, Damon has Alaric (Matt Davis) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) attempt to bring Oscar back via the Phoenix Stone. It appears they are successful since Oscar is shown to wake up although he doesn't seem to be in a sane state of mind.

Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) killed Oscar to stop him from his mission and this becomes a big obstacle for Damon and the crew but given how the trailer unfolds it is possible that Damon will resolve the issues and get things back on track before Lily gets too far ahead of him.

Whatever secret Valerie is hiding, however, the official synopsis posted by Cartermatt indicates that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will get the best of him and he will attempt to discover what she is keeping hidden. This secret may play a larger part for the rest of the season.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 4 will air this Oct. 29.
