'The Fosters' season 3 news: release date announced

The Fosters ABC Family

ABC recently announced that "The Fosters" will premiere its third season this coming June 8 with the first episode titled "Wreckage." Events in the premiere episode will immediately address the cliffhanger ending of season 2 which saw Ana, Jesus, and Mariana in a car accident.

According to the synopsis of "Wreckage," Stef is going to get hot on the trails of the person responsible for the crash and Callie not only returns to the Foster Home but also meets AJ, a teenage runaway looking for his brother. Jude also addresses his relationship with Connor while Brandon faces serious competition at the Idyllwild Music Program.

One character is obviously missing from the synopsis and that is Jesus Adams Foster, played by Jake T. Austin. Austin stated last March, as cited by Hollywood Life, that he would be leaving the show this third season. As many fans speculate, it is possible that Jesus would die during the premiere episode of season 3.

The title "Wreckage" might be dealing with the death of Jesus more than the synopsis hints at and this death in the family might be the driving force for Stef to hunt down the person that crashed into their car. It is important to note that when they were hit, it was Jesus' side that the other vehicle slammed into, making him the most likely to perish.

If Jesus is not the one who bites the dust, some fans speculate it might be Ana. If this is the case, then it might explain why Jesus decides to leave home and find a new path elsewhere, perhaps to the boarding school that he wanted to enter during season 2.

Should Ana die, the premiere episode might end with the doctors performing a c-section to give birth to her baby. This new character might be the replacement for both Ana and Jesus once the actors leave the show.
