'The Fosters' season 3 spoilers, cast news: a character from past seasons to come back

Rosie O'Donnell holding the season 3 script for The Fosters Instagram

"The Fosters" season 3 is scheduled to premiere this June 8 and a lot of attention is going into the details of the premiere episode since the previous season ended on a heart-pounding cliffhanger. However, according to a report from Enstarz, there is one more detail to get fans excited.

Actress Rosie O'Donnell, famous for hosting "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" from 1996 to 2002, posted a photo via Instagram showing herself holding a script of "The Fosters" while resting outdoors. The shot goes with the caption that reads: "life is good." Fans have since speculated that she will be coming back as Callie's old group home counselor Rita Hendricks.

This was later reinforced by series creator Bradley Bredeweg when he posted via Twitter: "SOMEONE is getting ready to come back to #TheFosters! Hurry home, Ro!"

Since the character is mostly related to Callie, being the leader of Girls United, it is very likely that Rita Hendricks will first be seen interacting with her. Callie was last seen trying to get her biological father to sign away the adoption papers so that she could live with Lena and Stef but encountered trouble with her biological sister, Sophia.

Rita might be brought in to help Callie deal with the difficulties of just meeting her real father and sibling, and the trouble that comes with being in a foster home with a foster family. A lot of drama is already going on in "The Fosters" and O'Donnell's character might be brought in to soften the blow.

That still doesn't downright answer what happened to Jesus, Mariana, and Ana. The three were on the way to the hospital during the season 2 finale when their vehicle was slammed by another car. Fans speculate that either Ana's child dies or that Jesus dies since the actor portraying him, Jake T. Austin, confirmed he's not returning for season 3.
