'The Blacklist' season 3 spoilers: 'confusing' type of love blossom between Red and Liz

The Blacklist NBC

One of the most endearing elements of "The Blacklist" is the relationship between Raymond "Red" Reddington and Elizabeth Keen. Fans of the show know that there is a spark of romance in there, especially since the season 2 finale revealed that Red does have deep, sincere feelings for her, and now it appears season 3 will address this.

However, fans who are expecting a typical love relationship between the two lead characters are going to be gravely disappointed. As is the usual with the show, things aren't going to be simple. According to a report from Vinereport, actress Megan Boone, who plays Liz, explained that their relationship exhibits a "confusing" type of love.

"I think people see how much Red loves her," Boone stated. "I think that will have to be answered. How do you love someone that deeply — no matter what the circumstances, but especially when the circumstances are mysterious? I think she loves him, but I don't think there are romantic feelings."

According to a report from Venture Capital Post, season 3 will also step away from Red just a little bit to shine the spotlight on Liz in order to appeal to a wider audience. This might mean there won't be romance budding in the future but the sparks and hints will continue to pile on as the two start to spend more time together now that Liz is a futigive.

Season 3 is set to change the dynamics if the show is going to focus more on Liz than Red. Liz is also on the run now and is no longer working with the task force while Tom Keen sits in the middle, pondering whether to help Liz and Red or if he should join the newly appointed Agent Ressler — who took over Cooper's position — in hunting the duo down.

"The Blacklist" season 3 premieres this fall.
