Things are looking more complicated for Noah (Dominic West), his ex-wife Helen (Maura Tierney), and girlfriend Alison (Ruth Wilson) in the third season of "The Affair."

While there is no word yet regarding the plot of "The Affair" season 3, fans of the critically acclaimed show are hoping that the series will deal with the aftermath of the shocking events seen during the season 2 finale.

At the end of the second season, viewers of the show finally learned what really transpired during the night Scotty Lockhart (Colin Donnell) died. The episode revealed that Noah and Helen were inside the car that ran over Scotty, causing his death.

In the episode's flashback scenes, the former couple met unexpectedly in a bar where they talked about their lives. The two rode the same car when they left the bar, with Helen on the driver's seat. But she lost her concentration when Noah suddenly held her hand.

Unfortunately, Alison and Scotty were also on the road where Helen and Noah were driving on. When Alice pushed Scotty towards the road to stop him from forcing himself on her, Helen's car suddenly appeared. This caused Scotty his life.

When Scotty's family decided to seek justice for his death, all three of them were tried in a courthouse. However, Noah decided to take all the blame and told the women in his life that they should keep quiet about their involvement in the crime.

Could this event lead to another drama between the three main characters of the show after dealing with the cheating and infidelity that Noah committed with Alison while he was still married to Helen?

Joshua Jackson, the actor who portrays the role of Alison's ex-husband and Scotty's brother Cole Lockhart, earlier told HNGN.com that the third season will center on the resolution of the events that took place during the time of the crime.

Showtime will bring back "The Affair" season 3 sometime in 2016.
