The "Tekken" fighting game series has primarily been geared toward arcade and console gamers, but according to a report from PC Gamer, it is possible that "Tekken 7" will launch on the PC as well. This is based on the fact that Bandai recently conducted a survey to gauge how interested the market is for a PC release of the game.
It is unsure at this point if a possible PC port would be of the original "Tekken 7," which is already out in Japanese arcades but not in the West, or of the updated version titled "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution."
The latter version will have all the DLC characters included as well as all of the minor tweaks to the fighting mechanics, balancing issues and bugs. It is widely assumed that the console version, and to some extent the PC version, will be based entirely on the "Fated Retribution" version as it is the more refined version of the game.
The report points out that if the game does release for PC, it will be the first in the franchise to do so, not counting the crossover title "Street Fighter X Tekken," which was developed by Capcom. By releasing on the PC, "Tekken 7" will now serve as a viable competitor against other big fighting games on the PC such as "Street Fighter V," "Skullgirls" and "Guilty Gear."
Unfortunately, the survey from Bandai is no longer available and has since been closed for access. Fans of the franchise will still need to wait for Bandai Namco to release any statement regarding the results of the survey. Given how popular a platform the PC is, it is very likely that Bandai will agree to release a PC version alongside the console version.
"Tekken 7" and "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" have yet to be released in the West. Bandai Namco has not yet announced any official release date, although the games are scheduled to launch sometime this year.
