'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' story: The explanation behind C-3PO's red arm

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has evolved the "Star Wars" universe and storyline in many ways, creating big back stories in the smallest details. One of which that imply a colourful tale behind it is the red arm that replaces C-3PO's originally-gold left arm.

The latest "Star Wars" film is characterised by a 30-year time jump from Episode 6 and 7, wherein a lot could have happened to some of the main characters of the movie. While not bothersome to many, there are those who are dying to know what the story behind C-3PO's red arm is.

A recent leak posted on Reddit of a book that accompanies the release of "The Force Awakens" gives an interesting clue to the mysterious red arm. "C-3PO is uncharacteristically quiet when it comes to discussing his salvaged arm; it is a memento of another droid's sacrifice." a caption from the book says.

Cinema Blend reported that J.J. Abrams had previously said that he planned a change in C-3PO's look to highlight the aging of the droid, and other characters as well. Toys and shots prior to the film's debut gave fans a heads-up to the change in the droid's look.

Given the three decade time jump, it can be safely assumed that the model that C-3PO is made in has probably become out-dated, and spare parts have stopped manufacturing. The question that "Star Wars" fans need answered is "Why did C-3PO lose his original arm?"

C-3PO is one of the "Star Wars" franchise's most iconic characters, mostlyseen being bullied by the enemy forces or being teased by accompanying robot R2-D2. The droid is played by actor Anthony Daniels, who has played the translator bot from the very beginning.

"Star Wars" fans will be looking forward to the new one-shot featuring the back story of C-3PO's salvaged arm.
