'Star Wars: Battlefront' release date: Nov. 17 launch guaranteed

Star Wars Battlefront EA Games

The Nov. 17 release date for "Star Wars: Battlefront" has been guaranteed by Peter Moore, the COO of game publisher Electronic Arts, in an interview with MCV.

According to the report, a delay in the game's launch is not going to happen as there are no issues with the title's development, but he did acknowledge that they would push the game's release date in case there is a problem. He then went on to explain that the team is experiencing no such issue at the time being.

"We would have no compunction, no hesitation whatsoever, that if something was to go wrong with 'Star Wars Battlefront' – if it wasn't right – we would just push it. But that's not going to happen," he told MCV.

Moore continued to state that the company is strongly focused on a "players first" philosophy in which they aim to deliver what gamers want and not what the shareholders of the company demand. This has led to some delays to games like "Dragon Age: Inquisition" and the upcoming "Need for Speed" but both have gained benefits from the added development time.

Beyond the "players first" mantra, Moore also went on to explain that they approach these movie-video games differently now. Instead of working the game around the films, which he explained are passive mediums since the audience has no direct influence over the story, they now established that the games are separate entities that stand alone and can tell a more dynamic story.

Moore's statements make it clear that "Star Wars: Battlefront" has received all the time it needs to reach perfection and that they are sticking to the Nov. 17 release date with no hint of a delay in sight.  It will be rolled out just a month ahead of the new film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
