'Star Wars: Battlefront 2' microtransactions return news: Electronic Arts to bring back microtransactions via next progression update

After temporarily disabling microtransaction in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2," it appears that Electronic Arts (EA) is ready to bring this feature back in the game after subjecting it to some changes. In the next progression update in the game, EA will formally restore microtransations, although players will not have to worry if these will provide unfair advantage for those who are willing to pay actual money. This time around, the microtransactions are only meant for cosmetic items.

According to GameSpot, EA will bring back microtransactions in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" via the April progression update. While there are concerns that microtransactions will give other players an opportunity to advance in the game by using real currency in purchasing high-powered weapons and power upgrades, the next update will only make the cosmetic items available for in-game purchase.

With this, the actual gameplay will not be affected as players can buy items that will only change their character's appearance, instead of having usable explosives, guns, and shields.

It can be recalled that EA suffered a backlash from players upon launching "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" last year due to microtransactions. The studio was criticized for allowing some players to purchase loot boxes with real money. These loot boxes could give the players random items that would offer advantage when fighting in multiplayer mode.

Some people even described this system as "pay-to-win," and only those who are willing to pay money are guaranteed to win the battles.

To prevent more players in boycotting the game, EA decided to remove microtransactions from "Star Wars: Battlefront 2," promising to bring it back one day after applying the necessary changes. In the upcoming game progression update, there will be no loot boxes available in microtransactions.

If players would like to obtain items that will help them improve in the actual gameplay, they will need to accumulate experience points instead to get one. The experience points can only be obtained by playing various classes, ships, and hero characters in multiplayer mode.
