Service to remember Alethea Taylor

Alethea Taylor was described as "very much part of Orleton church"

St George's Church, Orleton, will be holding a special service on Wednesday in memory of one of its members Alethea Taylor, who went missing last year.

Although her body has never been found, her husband John Taylor was convicted of her murder last month and told he must serve a minimum of 17 years.

Mrs Taylor was organist at Orleton church and an active member of the community, organising days out for a local pensioner group called the Evergreens.

She was also part of the Birchpole singers and the group will be singing at the memorial service.

Her murder has shocked the close-knit Herefordshire community.

It is hoped that the service will bring some sense of closure to friends and family grieved at not being able to lay her properly to rest.

The service will be conducted by the Bishop of Ludlow, Alistair Magowan, and all who knew her are being encouraged to attend.

The new vicar of Orleton Church, the Reverend Bruce Thomson, who assumed oversight of Orleton Church at the beginning of this month said, "The disappearance of Alethea Taylor and John Taylor's subsequent conviction of his wife's murder took place before my time.

"I hope and pray, therefore, that this memorial service will bring comfort to all those who knew Alethea and help the community of Orleton in their grief."
