Samsung Galaxy S7 news: The Galaxy S7 will have four variants

Will the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S7 bring back the microSD card slot? Samsung

A third-party accessory maker has given a tip that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be launched in four variations, and not two. Aside from the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Plus models that were earlier believed to be part of the next Samsung launch line-up, it has been indicated that Edge models will also be available for both models.

This means that the complete line-up of Galaxy S7 phones will include the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Plus, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus. The tip was given by accessory maker and retailer IT Skins, who posted designs for the smartphone casings of the upcoming Galaxy S7 versions on their website shop.

The tip matches with a leak shared earlier this month by prolific phone tipster, Evan Blass aka @evleaks, who claimed that the next Samsung Galaxy flagship to be launched would have four variants upon release.

Other anticipated specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in select regions and its Exynos 8 Octa 8890 in others. The South Korean company has reported that Qualcomm has agreed to exclusively provide the powerful chipsets to the phone manufacturer until April 2016.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is also said to come with 4GB of RAM, 3D Touch-like pressure sensitive displays measuring in two variants, 5.2 inches for the normal version and 6 inches for the Plus version. Both will come with Edge variants that have curved sides on the displays.

The smartphone will also be connected via USB-C charging ports. The phone's 16 MP back end camera and 5MP front-facing camera will see some major improvements in terms of customisable settings and photo editors.

Initially, it was believed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 would make a debut in January's CES 2016, but recent reports indicate that the handset will be revealed in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain instead. The conference will start on Feb. 22, 2016.
