Samsung Galaxy A9 news: Pricing for new premium handset leaked

Android Headlines

Korean phone manufacturer Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy A9 handset before Christmas in China, but failed to mention how much the device would sell for. Now, a leak has indicated how much the Galaxy A9 costs and it falls under the premium pricing range.

When the Galaxy A9 was launched, users were expectant that it wouldn't come cheap. Now an image posted on Chinese social media site Weibo has confirmed that, indicating that the premium Samsung smartphone sells for 3,199 Chinese Yuan, approximately Rs. 32,700 or $492. The steep price is probably because of the metal frame and glass body that the phone chassis design sports.

Aside from those external features, the Samsung Galaxy A9 also sports some promising specs such as a 6-inch full-HD Super Amoled display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution and 2.5D curved glass.

The handset is also powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The internal memory is set at 32GB and is expandable via a microSD card slot up to 128 GB. The company also emphasises on the minimal 2.4-mm display bezel on the handset.

However, contrary to rumours, the Galaxy A9 lacks the hybrid dual-SIM card slot that most high-end Samsung smartphones now have. Instead, the smartphone has two SIM card slots and a separate micro SD card slot.

The phone's back-side camera has 13 megapixels and is equipped with autofocus, LED flash, f/1.9 aperture, and optical image stabilisation (OIS). The front-facing camera has 8 megapixels with a few modes attached to it. One of the differentiating features is the 4000mAh battery that also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 tech.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 launch was accompanied by launches of the 2nd generations of Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 handsets as well.
