'RPG Maker MV' release date news: Pre-order for development tool now available

RPG Maker MV Enterbrain

"RPG Maker MV," the latest game development tool from developer Enterbrain and a successor to the highly successful "RPG Maker VX Ace," will release this Oct. 23. The game development software is now available for pre-order on the "RPG Maker MV" official website and on Steam.

Pre-orders will include a 10 per centdiscount and two special packs, the "Cover Art Character Pack" and the "Essentials Set." Both packs come with additional tilesets, character theme songs, additional face sets and other resources to help game designers create a more unique video game.

The pre-order will be available up to the app's release this Oct. 23.

"RPG Maker MV" will be the first in the franchise to offer multi-platform support, allowing developers to create RPG video games for iOS and Android devices, PC, Mac, and HTML5 browsers. It offers both side-view and front-view battle systems, a more robust resource database, and full support for high-resolution displays.

It will also have full keyboard support, touch screen support. The pre-order bonus DLC will also include a converter to transfer projects from "RPG Maker VX Ace" to "RPG Maker MV." A Plug-In Manager and Event Search tool have also been added to "RPG Maker MV" to make it even easier and quicker to make a complex game.

As reported by RPGFan, installing "RPG Maker MV" requires 2 GB of hard drive space, a big step up from the previous title's 400 MB requirements. The tool's minimum OS requirements are Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.10, although it has not been announced yet what version of iOS or Android will be supported.

RubyScript has also been apparently been replaced with JavaScript and HTML5 exporting, which is speculated by fans to make programming specific events in a game easier. JavaScript is also taught in more schools than RubyScript, which means there is a potential for "RPG Maker MV" to be easier to get into and master than previous titles.
