"Reign" season 3 will be graced by a familiar presence. Mary's mother, Marie de Guise, will appear in one episode in the new season, Entertainment Weekly reports. The character is played by actress Amy Brenneman.

The last time fans saw Marie, she was in very bad shape and was already dying. But the aforementioned website says that her appearance proves that she has yet to bite the dust. That isn't an assurance that she has plenty of time left, though.

With the pains her daughter is going through, her kind words would deeply sooth her soul and encourage her to fight back. But looking at their current mother-daughter situation, things don't look that mellow.

Mary isn't happy about how her mother is more concerned with using the strength she has left to push her daughter into producing an heir. She even asked her if her daughter's rape impregnated her. It would be nice to see Marie, for once, doing everything she can do to at least help her daughter before she expires.

Meanwhile, Mary's mother-in-law is doing all she can to make her suffer and enlisted the help and power of Queen Elizabeth to make the Queen of Scotland suffers even further. All these while Mary worries abouther husband Francis who is also very sick.

There are speculations that Mary's beloved will die in "Reign" season 3. This is because in history, the real Francis did not live that long. This is what executive producer Laurie McCarthy insinuated during a chat with Entertainment Weekly

"Young men, even young kings, do not live forever," the EP said. "The real Francis died young, and while we take historical liberties, we adhere to the major signposts of Mary Queen of Scots' life. Moreover, the foreshadowing of Francis' eventual but untimely death has been woven into our story from the outset."

"Reign" season 3 is shaping up to be full of drama and tension. The new season starts Oct. 9.
