One of the very few surprises in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was the announcement by Bethesda Softworks that it is releasing a reboot of the 2006 first-person shooter video game, "Prey" and that it will be made available sometime next year.

The original game, developed by Human Head Studios and published by 2K Games, was praised for its advanced computer graphics at the time it was released and it achieved moderate commercial success, particularly for the Microsoft Xbox 360 game console. With Bethesda obtaining the right to continue the would-be series based on the original game, there now exists a great prospect of playing the game once again, but this time with even better graphics and gaming experience overall.

During the E3 2016 announcement, Bethesda added that it has commissioned its subsidiary company, Arkane Studios to develop the game across the three main gaming platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Bethesda's vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines also said that instead of labeling the game as a sequel, it'll be more of a "reimagining" of the original game.

Per GameNGuide, next year's "Prey" will be centered on main protagonist Morgan Yu, who actually is a human recipient or subject of experiments that led him to become a lot more powerful than conventional human beings. He is trapped inside a space station in which he later learns is infested with aliens hostile to anyone or anything not belonging to its kind.

The role-playing concept is to be retained in the upcoming game, although first-person shooter elements are expected to be very noticeable all throughout. Gameplay includes the selection of Morgan's numerous attributes, which in turn will prove to be the determinant of succeeding or failing in the mission. The key is to survive aboard the ship, where players can make use of Morgan's skills to gather and use weapons and several different resources that remain in the station.

Although Bethesda has yet to provide an exact release date, fans of "Prey" have the assurance that the game will be released next year, to say the least.
