Disney releases a new "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Facebook game called "Porg Invasion," where players can catch the franchise's latest alien addition.

As with the previous "Star Wars" episode, which launched the R2-D2 successor BB-8, "The Last Jedi" introduced an equally adorable character in the little porgs.

Born and raised in planet Ahch-To, where Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) went into hiding, the porgs are able to easily reproduce. And without Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Chewbacca's knowledge, some of them were able to enter their aircraft before it left the island-planet.

The hit alien creatures give Disney a chance to further market the already famous franchise, which is what it is doing with the Facebook game.

In "Porg Invasion," players will play the role of BB-8, whose task is to remove every single porg from the Millennium Falcon. To score, players must tap the screen for BB-8 to shoot a claw and capture a porg. Players can also help the Wookiee pilot to fix parts of the ship that could have been damaged by the little aliens.

The game is styled like a retro-arcade and can be repetitive, although just enough to keep players addicted.

Launched on Friday via Instant Games, "Porg Invasion" can be played on Facebook Messenger through mobile and on Newsfeed when using a desktop.

Unlike the video games "Star Wars Battlefront II: The Last Jedi Season" and "Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes," "Porg Invasion" is absolutely free to play and is mainly for advertising.

The porgs are also part of the recently released augmented reality stickers for Google Pixel and Pixel 2. The 3D creatures, which also include other iconic "Star Wars" characters like the storm troopers, R2-D2 and BB-8, will appear in photos and videos taken via Google's camera app. With its new AR tech, it should look like the people in the shot are really part of the scene.
