'Pokémon Omega Ruby' and 'Alpha Sapphire' update: Pokémon Diancie offered for limited period

Diancie GameFreak, Nintendo

The mythical Pokémon Diancie will be available for "Pokémon Omega Ruby" and "Pokémon Alpha Sapphire" players in the U.S. for a limited period, from July 24 to 27. Diancie is one of the newest additions to the list of Pokémon, along with the recently offered Hoopa.

Diancie will be given via a distribution event in the game. All players need to do is connect their 3DS to the Internet and access the Nintendo Network to acquire the new critter. Diancie comes with the moves Protect, Diamond Storm, Moonblast, and Dazzling Gleam.

Gamers will also be able to acquire the Diancite Mega Stone within the game. This is needed in order to achieve Diancie's Mega Evolution. The stone can be found in a Pokémon Center.

Diancie is a Rock and Fairy type Pokémon and is the only Fairy type with a high base defense stat of 150. It is also the only Pokémon capable of learning the move Diamond Storm. However, along with Deoxys, it has the lowest HP amongst all the legendary Pokémon in the game.

As pointed out in a report from Destructoid, this free mythical Pokémon is only for "Omega Ruby" and "Alpha Sapphire" instead of "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y." Diancie was given out to both "X" and "Y" last year as an exclusive offer from Gamestop.

As the four games can be connected and players can trade Pokémon from one title to the other, this doesn't make much of an issue, especially if the player uses the online Pokémon Bank. With the Pokémon Bank, which is a cloud storage system for Pokémon, players can access their stored critters with any of the four current-gen games.

It is also important for gamers to get the new patch for both "Omega Ruby" and "Alpha Sapphire" prior to getting Diancie or accessing other online features or else, the game will kick the player offline.
