Pencil in head 15 years: Man, 24, had pencil lodged from sinus to pharynx after bad fall as child

A man unknowingly had a pencil lodged in his head for 15 years.

The 24-year-old man from Afghanistan finally sought medical help in 2011 after suffering from headaches, colds and worsening in one eye for years, according to Aachen University Hospital.

Following a scan, German doctors discovered that a pencil was embedded from his sinus to his pharynx, injuring his right eye socket.

The man, who has not been named, could not explain how the pencil got there, but said that he once fell very badly when he was a child.

He has since recovered after German doctors removed the pencil.

The case was presented for the first time at a medical conference this week, according to hospital spokesman Mathias Brandstaedter.
