While "Outlander" season 3 has yet to begin airing, the pre-production of its season 4 has already begun with the casting of Rollo for the future season of the Starz historical fiction drama.

"Outlander" season 3 is slated to arrive this September, but the production behind the hit Starz drama has already started the preparations for its, likewise, forthcoming season 4, which will be based on Diana Gabaldon's fourth book "Outlander" series of novels, "Drums of Autumn." According to reports, the production has already cast Rollo for its season 4.

Those who have already read "Drums of Autumn" know too well that Rollo plays an important role in the story. To the uninitiated, Rollo is a wolf hybrid that eventually becomes a beloved member of the Fraser family after a young Ian Murray finds him.

It has been learned that, although production of "Outlander" season 3 has yet to conclude, the production is already eyeing to train the two Northern Inuit puppies that will play the role of Rollo alternately in "Outlander" season 4 as soon as possible. According to a Starz spokesperson, Rollo has a penchant for getting into trouble as the dog has a habit of "sticking his large, wet nose into places it doesn't belong." Nonetheless, despite inadvertently attracting trouble, Rollo's role in the adventures to come with "Outlander" season 4 is of vital importance.

"They look cute, but tough. They should be just right to play Rollo when the time comes. They'd need to growl and look menacing on command, I think, and carry back prey of one kind or another to their master. I assume they wouldn't let them catch things on camera ... especially fish, of course," Gabaldon tells Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, "Outlander" is slated to return to Starz this September for its season 3, which will kick off with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) returning to 1948 through the stones and Jamie (Sam Heughan) rebuilding his life after his defeat in the Battle of Culloden.
