As Outlander gets ready for its third season, questions are being raised about how faithful the series will remain to Diana Gabaldon's novel Voyager, on which the following season is based.

After very few details were revealed about the second season, causing fans to come up with the term "Droughtlander" in reference to the lack of information about the show, new details have surfaced early that the older version of the gay character Lord John Grey has finally been cast.

Based on a report by FX news, Home and Away alum David Berry has been cast for the role of the nobleman who develops romantic feelings for Jamie Frasier but eventually suffers heartbreak from him.

It can be recalled that the finale showed Claire narrating the story of her ex-husband to their daughter just before she finds out that he didn't die in battle. The final scene however, hinted that she would have to go back to find out what happened in the past 20 years.

According to a report by E! News, Season 3 promises to introduce new characters as well as bring back some of the characters who audiences have already bid adieu to.

The series is also expected to remain faithful to the novels even as apprehensions were raised that the Battle of Culloden was not tackled in season 2. The third season will flesh out what happened during and after the battle.

Briana and Roger will also surely make a return, which is a piece of good news for fans who immediately took to them when they appeared in Season 2.

The report also hinted that big things will happen between Claire and Jamie post reunion after they spent the last 20 years apart.

Outlander Season 3 will return to Starz in 2017.
