'Orange is the New Black' season 4 plot rumors: Daya will focus on baby instead of pursuing Bennett

Netflix

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, actress Dascha Polanco revealed a few spoilers regarding her character Daya Diaz on "Orange is the New Black" and the direction Daya will be heading in on the show's upcoming fourth season. Polanco emphasized the results of Bennett (Matt McGorry) leaving her and the fact that Daya's baby was taken away from her custody.

The first thing she made clear was that getting back with Bennett was not that important to Daya anymore as her main priority in season 4 was to get together with her baby. When asked if Daya would indeed reunite with her baby in season 4, the actress admitted she had no idea at this point during production.

"We're [the cast] is kind of like the audience, since we find out what happens from episode to episode and we can't wait to see what happens next," she explained. "When you're in jail, you have no control over your situation. It just gets more and more difficult for her,"

Polanco emphasized that she only found out about Daya and Bennett's breakup when she got the script for that episode. With that in mind, it is likely she will only learn about Daya and her baby's reunion the day they begin shooting the episode.

Polanco was then asked what she would want to see from Daya in the upcoming season and to this the actress explained she wanted to see Daya "break out from her shell." Polanco stated that if the things that happened to Daya had happened to her in real life she would be rebellious and that this is the side she wants to see Daya take on.

The actress was then asked if there were other specific characters on the show that she wanted to put more emphasis on, and she stated she wanted to see more of the Latino characters. Polanco did admit that this would be difficult since there are many characters, although she does like it when the show gives time to the other prisoners.

"Orange is the New Black" season 4 is scheduled to premiere in Summer 2016 on Netflix.
