Fans saw Red and Sam's relationship blossom in the previous season of "Orange is the New Black." Season 4 of the Netflix series is expected to delve more into their romance and even Michael Harney, who plays Sam, wants to do the same.

"I really enjoy the scenes I had with Red in Season 3. So I'm hoping we have a chance to work together again," the actor told International Business Times. "Artistically that's very fulfilling for both of us, I believe, so there's that. But I approach it like it's a blank canvas."

The actor added that "there's a lot of depth in the relationship, there's a lot of real ... there's a soulfulness there."

The development of their story into something romantic was a bit of a shock because their previous interactions did not suggest that at all. Now, Sam left his wife for Red, who believes that it's too late for them to change things. In season 4, fans will see if Sam will be successful in changing Red's mind.

In other related news, prison guard John Bennett is nowhere to be seen. Fans are at variance about the reason he went away. Some say he didn't want more responsibilities as a dad and others think he was going away to keep his kids safe. It remains to be seen if he will return to the series although Matt McGorry, who plays the character, has reportedly expressed his interest in seeing where his character's relationship with Daya Diaz would go.

"Orange Is the New Black" season 4 is expected to premiere in June next year on Netflix, with Laura Prepon, Taylor Schilling and season 3 addition Ruby Rose returning.
