NYC 1644 Park Avenue building explosion, collapse live stream coverage, update: Two dead, Metro North trains delayed

A building in New York City's East Harlem has exploded this morning.

The explosion happened at 9.30 a.m. ET at a building in Upper Manhattan between 116<sup>th and 117<sup>th St. on Park Avenue.

The building reportedly collapsed after the initial explosion, which has left 11 people injured. Firefighters are still ont the scene battling the fire that swept throught the building. 

Many residents reported hearing and feeling the rattle of the explosion. 

The explosion shook nearby buildings, with windows breaking in the area. The building which was five stories, was located near Metro-North tracks. A church was on the first floor of the building. The train service has been shut down due to the incident due to debris on the tracks, leaving travelers who have no way out of the city stranded.

New York Police officers, FDNY, and rescue teams are on the scene and many are being transported to hospital by ambulances.

Smoke following the explosion in the residential area was seen from miles away, and debris has been reported in the area.

Officials do not yet know the cause of the explosion.

Marisa Aquino, a resident nearby, told NBC News: "There are a ton of firefighters and a lot of smoke. Cops and first responders are everywhere."
