'NCIS: LA' season 7 spoilers: Team deals with a cyber threat in episode 13 'Angels and Daemons'

 CBS

"NCIS: LA" season 7 episode 13, titled "Angels and Daemons," will see the team tackle a case that is out of their realm of expertise. According to the official synopsis on SpoilerTV, the team will investigate the death of a tech entrepreneur who secretly developed a unique background computer program capable of discreetly collecting data.

The tech entreprenuer's program, called a daemon, is capable of collecting vast amounts of user information without the user's knowledge. This could be used by the government for surveillance and spy missions but there is also the potential of this going to the black market and to be used for illegal measures by terrorists and criminals.

As seen in previous episodes and seasons, the team of "NCIS: LA" is capable when it comes to cyber threats but this is one case that apparently is out of their reach. It is speculated that the team will be looking for outside help in order to discover who killed the tech entrepreneur and to trace where the daemon program might be heading.

As reported by Design and Trend, illegal user data collection has a very hazardous effect on the online market and to users in general. There have been cases in the past of telecom companies and even websites discreetly gathering user information for dubious purposes.

Like previous episodes, this is another round of "NCIS: LA" utilizing contemporary issues in their storylines as in recent years there have been issues of the government and of other hacker groups illegally collecting user info. This became an explosive issue when former NSA employee Edward Snowden revealed the activities to the public.

However, the episode will not be airing this week as "NCIS: LA" will go on a one-week hiatus. Instead, the episode is currently scheduled to air on Jan. 18, with episode 14 returning to the normal schedule and will air on Jan. 25.
