NBA trade rumors: Wizards want free agent Kevin Durant, coaching additions with Brown, Iske and Lowe

With the Cleveland Cavaliers finishing the season as this year's NBA champs after an exciting Finals series against the Golden State Warriors, the teams are already beginning to beef up their rosters to improve their chances of becoming next year's champions.

According to a report by Hoopsrumors, among those teams is the Washington Wizards who is poised to go for free agent Kevin Durant for the next season. Their secret weapon --  point guard John Wall, who has developed a friendship with the strong former MVP.

"I feel if [Brooks] can make a pitch, and I can make a pitch and [Durant] comes, it's great. I think we do need another star here, another great player to [get over] that next hump. You need three stars to win this league," Wall said.

Wall however said that he doesn't want to lay it on too thick with his friend and wants to give him a chance to rest before he makes up his mind about the possibility of joining the Wizards.

It also does not hurt that Durant's hometown is Washington so that may also play a part in his decision making.

Another ace the Wizards has up its sleeve is new coach Scotty Brooks who has had a long history with the talented NBA superstar.

"They want Brooks to be front and center when they try to recruit Kevin Durant starting July 1. Brooks coached Durant for nine seasons, with the final seven coming as head coach in Oklahoma City," Mitch Lawrence of Sporting News said.

However, aside from Durant, the new coach also wants to strengthen his coaching team with the addition of Tony Brown, Chad Iske and Sidney Lowe, tweeted ESPN's NBA reporter Mark Stein.
