2016 NBA trade rumors: Houston Rockets giving up Ariza, Beverley for Noel; free agent Rajon Rondo joining team too?

With the NBA Drafts looming, teams are scrambling to get the best trades to beef up their chances to steal the much coveted Championship status from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who emerged as this season's champions after an action packed Finals series.

While there are plenty of rumors circulating about which teams are actively trying to maximize their assets for a stronger roster, some of the rumors have already been confirmed, with only the official announcements left from the teams' managements.

Among the reports circulating is that the Houston Rockets have pitched a trade proposal to the Sixers involving two of its mainstays – Trevor Ariza and Patrick Beverley for Nerlens Noel.

The team is reportedly working to improve their defense and new head coach Mike D'Antoni seems to have his eye on Noel because he has worked with him before and is aware of his skill set.

This may not be a bad deal for the Sixers as Ariza and Beverley, could gel well with their style. While both players are considered to be on the older side, they have consistently proven their mettle in play.

The Rockets will also be bidding adieu to one of its superstars Dwight Howard, who will become a free agent come July 1. Howard opted out of the final year of his contract with Houston and is reportedly being eyed by several teams who want to snap him up, reported SB Nation.

Among those who are reportedly interested in signing him are the Orlando Magic, which will be like a homecoming for Howard since he spent the first eight years of his career with the team, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Hornets.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that Houston may be considering the addition of a reliable veteran point guard to complement James Harden who is a volume scorer.

Rajon Rondo, who will become an unrestricted free agent this summer is reportedly high on the list.
