The No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, former Miami Heat center Greg Oden, is trying to stage another comeback in the NBA and has busied himself working out for teams.

Oden will be working out for the Dallas Mavericks in their free-agent minicamp this week, RealGM.com reported Saturday.

According to the report, the 27-year-old just worked out for the Charlotte Hornets Wednesday and the Memphis Grizzlies last spring and the team will monitor him.

Oden was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers over No. 2 pick and 2014 Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant and only played a total of 82 games for the team over two seasons.

He last suited up for the Miami Heat in the 2013-14 season and averaged only 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds.

Oden has been plagued by injuries all throughout his professional career which only limited him to 105 games in the NBA with averages of 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

But Ohio State coach Thad Matta, who was Oden's coach in his one year with the Buckeyes, shared with reporters during the NCAA tournament in Portland that the big man has been training in the campus for six months and is in good shape.

"Quite honestly, I haven't seen Greg look this good since when he played for us back in the day at Ohio State. His attitude is off the charts," Matta said.

Oden averaged 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game in his lone season with Ohio State and led the team to the NCAA Championship game in 2007 but came up short against the University of Florida.

The Mavs were looking to sign Oden during the summer of 2013 for the veteran's minimum according to ESPN but he ended up with the Heat.

Along with health issues in his playing career, Oden also faced legal issues related to battery of his ex-girlfriend.
