As the 2015 NBA Draft day nears, Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell who is expected to be included in the top three picks this year just learned the triangle offense after a film session with New York Knikcs president Phil Jackson earlier this month.

"Now that I look at it, Kobe had great success in it. The shots that he took, the shots that he made were in the same areas, all from the offense. So I think I can definitely thrive there," Russell shared in a phone interview Friday.

The draft will be this Thursday and New York owns the No. 4 pick and selecting Russell will be an option for the struggling franchise.

But since the 19-year-old is expected to be in the top 3 picks, the Knicks drafting him is unlikely.

Although Russell shared in the phone interview how he enjoyed being in New York when he worked out for the team last week.

"It was great, just to be in the mecca. t was my second workout. Just being in New York was a great feeling and getting the opportunity to work out for one of most well-known teams in the NBA was just a blessing," Russell stated.

He also spoke positively of Jackson and Knicks head coach Derek Fisher when he met them.

"They did a great job of opening the doors for me and letting me ask anything I needed. I asked them what's one thing I can do to separate myself and they gave me some great knowledge on that," Russell shared.

He also said, "They've seen the greatest of the greats come through this league. So they know what it takes."

The Knicks are looking for all the options available that comes with their No. 4 pick in the 2015 draft which includes trading it for an acceptable deal.
